Weekend Happenings: Antiques and Artifacts

Posted by: Rebecca Durkin
Wes Cowan, star of the PBS shows History Detectives and Antiques Roadshow, is joining the Burke for a weekend all about antiques and artifacts.

Join us on Sat., Jan. 20, at 7 pm at the University of Washington’s Kane Hall for Wes Cowan’s talk, “Real Life Adventures of a History Detective.” Tickets are $18 at the door.

Then Cowan will come back on Sunday to the Burke for Artifact ID Day to help you identify your oldest and oddest artifacts and antiques collecting dust in your attic. Learn where they came from, what they were used for, and how to take better care of them. We cannot appraise your goodies, but we’ll give you a wealth of knowledge about them.

We’ll have ethnology, archaeology, geology, mammalogy, and American antiques experts on hand to help you out, but please limit yourself to no more than two objects. The event is free with museum admission.

Artifact ID Day runs from 10:30 – 12:30 and 1:30 – 3:30. See you there!
